The nerd behind the environmental writer
is my jamStuck for words? Word play can be hard work when you want attention, you’re keen to make a difference, and you want others to take action. I get it. Pushing shtuff up hill. That’s where I come in.
Hi I’m Fiona Bengtsson, an environmental writer and scientist based in beautiful Whitsundays, Australia. I’ve been writing professionally for over 20 years for small businesses, corporate behemoths, NGOs and space aliens (I swear). I believe that at the heart of things everyone wants to be heard.
Maybe you can relate.
I like telling stories, true stories, your stories. My small business is all about storytelling content that informs, sparks emotions and feels, helping you to shine brighter than the rest. O and taking the mental out of environmental is my jam – think natural, sustainable solutions, eco friendly vibes, relatable ‘green’ info and creating a better place in the world.
I can give you personalised, polished words that speak directly to your customers like a real human.
And I’ll probably have fun doing it.
My secret
Environmental writer and scientist?
Wait you say. Both environmental writer and environmental scientist? Yes, actually. I can speak English, Eco warrior, Geek, Tech head and Engineer (and have a few letters after my name to prove it). Even Sailor. I can tell you about soil, plants, animals, water quality, chemicals, environmental design, sustainability and mermaids (but only if you ask). And I’m a blunt perfectionist who likes to know the whys. Creative content infused with a love of nature and backed by science.
This means I have lots of street cred when it comes to research, putting together information that’s easy to understand, and injecting an earth friendly, eco flavour into your business.
And I want to make a difference too.
But let me tell you a secret.
This is not all about me.
Studio Deepwater is about me and you, developing our new business relationship to make your business stand out. Words that hum your tune naturally evolve from an in-depth understanding of your business, your clients, what you have that’s special. The magic is that such a beginning grows new connections, between you and your clients.
That’s my secret sauce. It’s as simple as that.
Let’s connect.
In case you’re still curious
op shop treasure hunter K so I wear lots of hats, sometimes more than one at a time, which brings a vibrant energy and unique perspective to my environmental writing. (Some say it also makes me the mad hatter which I’m ok with.)
These hats include the storyteller, sailor, nature enthusiast, yoga practitioner, recycling obsessive, treasure hunter, renovator and chocolate lover (with nuts of course). I am also lucky enough to live aboard a 1960s wooden sailboat
called Birdie.
